El día que nos robaron el coche en Sudáfrica aquella vida tocaba a su fin. No teníamos tienda de campaña, aquel coche era nuestro hogar. Nuestra vida avanzaba al ritmo de cuatro ruedas, impulsada por la libertad de ir a donde quisiéramos.
Cuando, estando en Inglaterra, me acogió una familia iraní para vivir con ellos, nunca pensé que aprendería tanto de unos niños que apenas me entendían y que cada mañana venían a tirarme con sus almohadas de la cama.
Lo único que sabía de portugués cuando asistí a mi primera clase de universidad en aquella recién estrenada vida brasileira, en Salvador, eran dos palabras: obrigado (gracias) y presunto (jamón). Aquel día salí de clase con dos palabras más: Amizade y cerveja.
Mi vida en Bilbao, compartiendo piso con los chavales de Producciones Sin Sentido, fue de lo más estresante. Las bromas protagonizaban cada día y las cenas se veían, todas las noches, amenazadas por el incierto número de guindillas que le hubiese dado por esconder al gracioso cocinero de turno.
En Ciudad del Cabo aprendí coreano, en Salvador tomaba un baño de mar cada atardecer y en Miami… ¡me iba todos los días a correr! Hay quien dice que el momento para soñar es la etapa de la vida en que eres niño. Yo creo que la vida no son etapas. Cada etapa es una vida. Y son vidas que comienzan y se acaban cuando viajas. Comienzan con un nuevo paisaje y un nuevo idioma y acaban cuando te despides de esa nueva cultura y esa gente que ya dejó de ser nueva.
Y porque sigo soñando, este blog se llama CientounVidas. Porque son cien vidas las que llegaré a vivir pero siempre habrá una que me espera, esa que siempre va conmigo y que estará allí cuando vuelva.
